Descent 3 killed my PC!
Okay, I'm pretty ticked off right now. I've been waiting too long to enable my Direct 3D features on windows 2000. I've downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturers of Nvidia and Microsoft to enable this, and it finally worked.

For some reason, however, when I installed Descent 3 the first time, it didn't start at all, saying I had an Invaild CD-ROM, so I decided to use OpenGL instead of direct3D. The second time, after installing the patch, it actually worked. However, every other game installed on my computer requiring some form of hardware acceleration gets a black screen and all of my Blizzard games have a standard speed of 10fps; it moves so fast now that the sound follows it about 1 second after I press something.
I'm thinking that Descent 3 modified the video card registry when I was tweaking the graphics properties of the game. However, I'm not entirely sure. Does anyone know what just happened?

You could also try just reinstalling your video card drivers. It's been a while since I messed with D3, but didn't it have that "GLSetup" program (the one with most of the OpenGL drivers that were out at the time)? Maybe it installed another driver (not sure how without the user knowing it) and that could be why the other games are going haywire.

At first, doing a repair install would fix everything... I was wrong. Then, I said, "screw it," and did a full format. Everything works now.
I'll use your suggestions though if I ever install Descent 3 again. Thanks for responding.
