I am running Windows XP It installed fine, and everything seemed to work. Whenever I try to run the game, I get the error encountered, this program needs to close.

Have you tried running it on compatibility mode?
Right-click the shortcut/executable, select Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab. Try running it on 95 or 98/ME compatibility mode and if it does not work, then try to select "Disable visual themes", "Run in 256 colors" and "Run in 640x480 screen resolution".
If that does not help, post more info.

I have tried setting the game into compatability mode for windows 95 and tried windows 98. I also enabled all of the options under Display Settings. What information is needed to further diagnose this problem? I have patched the game to the latest version.
