Descent: Freespace The Great War
I just recently found this game again, and would really like to play it. I am running Windows XP It installed fine, and everything seemed to work. Whenever I try to run the game, I get the error encountered, this program needs to close.

Whenever I try to run the game, I get the "error encountered, this program needs to close." Does anyone know how I can get this to run? If more info is needed, just let me know and I will post it. Have you tried running it on compatibility mode?
Right-click the shortcut/executable, select Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab. Try running it on 95 or 98/ME compatibility mode and if it does not work, then try to select "Disable visual themes", "Run in 256 colors" and "Run in 640x480 screen resolution".
If that does not help, post more info.
