Device failure on the sims 2

This is a discussion about Device failure on the sims 2 in the Windows Games category; I got the sims 2 a few weeks ago, installed it and it worked. I got some viruses on my computer so I did an windows xp system recovery. When i tried to reinstall it, I got a message that said this: Microsoft windows detected and recovered from a device failure.

I got the sims 2 a few weeks ago, installed it and it worked. I got some viruses on my computer so I did an windows xp system recovery. When i tried to reinstall it, I got a message that said this: "Microsoft windows detected and recovered from a device failure.
Please save your work and reboot to restore full functionality"
I just am out of solution. Fast help would be much appreciated.
