Device\Scsi\Aic78u21 did not respond within the timeout peri
Please can anyone help me solve this problem. I am convinced my scsi devices are not operating as quickly as they used to when I first bought this machine (2 years ago). Dual PIII 500Mhz, 512Mb Ram, Supermicro P6DGBU (onboard Adaptec SCSI controller 2940, AHA-2940U2/U2W), Seagate Cheetah 9Gb SCSI (ST39102LW) Seagat ...
Please can anyone help me solve this problem.
I am convinced my scsi devices are not operating as quickly as they used to when I first bought this machine (2 years ago).
Dual PIII 500Mhz,
512Mb Ram,
Supermicro P6DGBU (onboard Adaptec SCSI controller 2940, AHA-2940U2/U2W),
Seagate Cheetah 9Gb SCSI (ST39102LW)
Seagate Cheetah 18Gb SCSI (ST318203LC)
Plextor PX-40TS SCSI Cd-rom,
Yamaha CRW4416S SCSI Cd-rom,
Epson Expression SCSI Scanner,
W2K, SP1,
NT4, SP6a,
2 fans.
I've noticed that when there are cds in one or both drives, then on startup the machine takes longer to identify the SCSI ids for all the devices.
Any idea why I get loads of these messages in Event Viewer;
"The device, \Device\Scsi\aic78u21, did not respond within the timeout period. "
(Event ID9).
"An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 during a paging operation. " (Event ID51).
"The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block. " (Event ID7).
I run Diskeeper frequently (not that I am convinced that this does much).
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Jez

I got that. Are you using s370 adapters with your CPU's? Can you run your mobo with one CPU and see if it goes away in Win2k. Do you have plextor manager 1.06 or higher installed? I've had all these problems in Win2k. If you uninstall Plextor manager or remove your PX-40TS something might change. Check all these and let me know what you find.
Here's mine
