I have just purchased a Diamond 1200plus scanner and for two days and many instructions i still cannot get it to work.It says the 'Scanner is not connected please check the cable', then 'The scanner is not ready', why am i having such trouble please? Another idea...
Your scanner receives the power from the USB port of the PC.
Maybe the PC's USB port has problem.
Try to connect the scanner to another USB connector.
