I'm using DX8, and the Det. 7.17 drivers did nothing but crash when I tried to play a game. Going back to 6.47 seems to have fixed the problem though. Funny how the RC1 didn't have a problem with 7.17 but the final did.

I heard that th 7.10s worked better than the 7.17s for DirectX 8.

If you want the most stable drivers use the 6.34's. The 7.17's have memory leaks (MAJOR) and slowdown's in some color depths.

viewing images with thumbs plus 4.01 now causes winamp to skip, just as the image loads. bigger images, longer load times, worse skipping.

Im pretty sure it's the SB Live drivers, you know creative labs and win2k drivers hehee what a joke huh?

Other than that every thing's jake.

I tried using the new DirectX 8 and the 7.17 drivers, but they didn't seem to like me very much. UT was really jumpy - it went from an average of around 45fps to around 15fps. Q3 wouldn't even load - it BSOD's on me (that was the only BSOD I've EVER gotten with win2k, though, so it's not -that- big a deal I suppose). I downgraded back to the 6.47 release, and now I'm back up to normal speeds, with a slight boost in UT speed.

Has anyone tested sound acceleration under DX8? I know with the SB Live drivers before, EAX was practically unusable in some games. I'm hoping it'll be fixed with DX8 because lord knows when creative will get around to releasing new drivers!

I have had it easy I guess I have no problems with Det. 7.17 drivers, performance wise I didn't notice any different from 6.47. Quake III has a minor increase of 2 FPS. The sound skipping is still there with my Sound Blaster Live card. I guess we have to wait for Creative to release new drivers.
