MSI mobo (I forget the model #, but it has nVidia drivers as well)
Windows XP Pro
directx 9.0c
nVidia 77.72 drivers
When I play pretty much any directx game (Painkiller, Far Cry, Homeworld 2) the game will just hang up for 5-10 seconds with the music hanging (even winamp/iTunes) for the same 5-10 seconds. This happens about every 30 seconds to a minute of gameplay.
When I run Doom 3 (OpenGL game) everything works fine. I've tried re-installing directx 9.0c several times, tried running dxdiag, all tests pass..
****Also, changing the video settings in the directx games to their lowest settings has no effect on the stalls.****
I'd love any help on this as it is insanely annoying.

Well damn, I fixed it.
I was just snooping around in my mb bios (MSI K8N) and I noticed two things:

- Primary Graphics Adapter was set to PCI so I set it to AGP
- AGP Fast Write was set to auto so I set it to Disabled
