Disgusting D3D Performance?!?
This is a discussion about Disgusting D3D Performance?!? in the Windows Games category; It makes me scratch my head in awe. . . Picture Counter-Strike in OpenGL runs with over 100 FPS, I am using a ping optimizing script that limits the FPS to 85 (same as my refresh rate). When I try to run in D3D the FPS drop to 25-30 !!!! Anyone have any idea why? Specs: AthlonC @ 1.

Because CStrike is an OGL game? Why the heck are you trying to run in D3D anyway if you have OGL? D3D is in CStrike for those cards that have terrible or no OGL drivers like when Half-Life was first released and the ATI OGL drivers were not worth mentioning.
It's true. Half-Life's Direct3D support SUCKS!
when i run counterstrike in Direct3d, i can't see the bomb sites. stick with openGL!!!
Well, that can be fixed. I was refering more to the speed.
However, d3d is supposed to be better on ATI cards...
Anyway, that could all change in the next version which is not far away.
