Disk Cache takes all memory when copying large files

This is under Windows XP. I find that when I copy larger files and also running programs, all my memory is used on the disk cache and all programs are paged to disk. Anyone know of the fault and/or a workaround?.

I could be wrong, but I think thats the way NTs memory management is supposed to work. In 4 years of using NT I haven't noticed it do anything else. Of course, I haven't ran it in obscenely large amounts of RAM so that might have something to do with it...

Cant you change that by right clicking my puter->properties, advanced tab, performance 'settings' button, then the advanced tab. (Memory Usage)

Already tried that. BTW it defaults to programs over system cache.

That seems to help a lot. Once I find out what the best settings for my amount of memory are, I should have it working the way I want it.

Thanks
