Disk space problem.

I noticed when I right click> properties on C:\ it says I'm using 7. 48 gigs, but when I highlight all the files at the root of c:\(inc hidden and system files)and right clcik> properties it says 5.

Using NTFS? Some space is used by MFT (master File Table). Swap file usage is also a factor. Cleared your recycle bin lately? I've had 7GB in my recycle bin before.

i had this problem with an ntfs drive in winxp myself, the sum of the folders and files is a few gig less than the drive contents, i think its an mft error that chkdsk doesn't fix. I got back the missing 1.5gb by swapping all the files onto another hardrive, deleting the offending partition with fdisk, re-installing winodws then copying the files back. Its a pain in the arse but unless you want to buy partition magic pro 7.0 and convert to fat32 then back again, there's little else you can do.
