Hi,
I am trying to find a good DLNA media server to use in Windows XP. I am connecting to the media server with my Panasonic SC-BTT755 Blu-Ray Player. I have tried multiple trial versions with little success.
So far I have tried.
Twonky Media Server - Quick and responsive, works great for Photos and MP3's, Wont play .avi, only mpeg 2.
Serviio - Similar to Twonky, wont play .avi.
WMP11 - For some reason, i can't select Media Sharing.
Nero Media Home - Connects ok, but wont play .avi files, doesnt seem to transcode them either. (maybe i am missing a setting)
Mezzmo - Connects fine, had it going...almost. Very choppy transcoding.
Tversity - Connected to server, but couldnt play anything.
Wild Media Server - Couldnt connect.
Most of the files on my PC are in .avi format. It gives me minimal file size and decent quality. To get Twonky to work, i converted files to mpeg, but as a result they are much larger.
I want to be able to use the .avi files through DLNA by transcoding them. Does anyone have any suggestions of a simple transcoding DLNA server i can try? I am almost resigned to the fact i may have to convert all my videos to mpeg2.
