Do old dos games really run well on win9x

This is a discussion about Do old dos games really run well on win9x in the Legacy OS category; I have a dual boot machine machine with win98se and win xp sp1 I installed win98se only to play my old games. So far I have seen for past 3 months that only a few games (1998-2001) run which didn't in win xp but the dos games run most unsatisfactorily.

1. For most dos games, I have to restart in MS DOS mode and graphics are extremely poor (they run much better in an old 386)
2. I can't use mouse then (ms optical wheel mouse). Where can I find a dos mouse driver
3. No sound; where can I get old drivers
4. Games like Mortal Kombat Trilogy refuse to run because can't find some SVGA chip?
5. Can someone provide any answers

Thanks in advance

try dosbox. its free program that will run dos games on windows. their website has a compatibility list too so you can check if your games will work init, or contrribute to the list if you try games that arent on the list yet.
