I am investigating using a domain default user profile to facilitate PC configuration on my network. My question is this: how does the operating system affect the profile? I am interested in creating this profile for a Windows 2000 Professional PC. But I have existing Windows 95 and NT 4 PCs on my network. Would these PCs try to download the default profile and have problems because it is for the wrong operating system? Or would it understand it isn't for their operating system and ignore them? Or would it use the bits of the profile that were compatible and ignore the problem areas? Thanks for any help. I found lots on user profiles on TechNet but nothing answering this issue.
