This is a discussion about Doom III in the Slack Space category; This was supposed to be a response to Doom 3 Patch but somehow it screwed up. . . . Yea i think the mods are what might make the game somewhat good. After I got over the general effect of the creepy atmosphere of the demo (which took like a whole 5 minutes), I was thoroughly bored.

Yea i think the mods are what might make the game somewhat good. After I got over the general effect of the creepy atmosphere of the demo (which took like a whole 5 minutes), I was thoroughly bored. It is just another typical ID style game, not much for any breakthoughs in gameplay. Just another corridor shooter with pretty graphics.

Well then maybe they should call their company "ID 3D Engine Design and Licensing, Inc." That would be more fitting.
But if they did that they'd lose out on the idiot fanboy market who think "CARAMACK IS GOD!!!11!!!111 ID GAEMS R COOL!!!11!!"

lets face it though id multiplayer is allways great on all these games. Who cares if it doesn't have a plot
You do know that Doom 3 will not have multiplayer? Well it will but...not really. Nothing worth mentioning.
My understanding of the out-of-the-box multiplayer is that it will be 4 player max, and everyone has to join at the same time. What I get out of that, is that it will be geared to co-op play, and possibly peer-to-peer.

Thats going back a bit, you haven't had to do that since Descent 1...
Co-Op play is good but it has to be done right, with seperate storylines for each player and not only do I not believe id have it in them to produce such a game, the vast majority of gamers wouldn't have the patience to play one.

The last peer-to-peer game I played was Forsaken, and that bombed. While they would more than likely have better net code, I still don't think it would be such a hot idea to implement.
I've also heard that multiplayer may be added later, as a mission pack, perhaps that will have a client/server setup.
