Drawing hardware for artists?

This is a discussion about Drawing hardware for artists? in the Windows Hardware category; I know this stuff must exist, so what is the best hardware device to use for painting pictures or drawing on the computer. Like a usb pen and pad with pallette section etc. Also, how do companies draw stuff for games? Do they paint them and them scan the images or how does that work? Thanks.

p.s. a mouse is obviously a terrible drawing tool.

Yes...what we use are Wacom Tablets. They come in Serial port and USB versions. They are a great tool. They tend to be a little pricey, but they are worth every penny. Here is their website:
