Dreamweaver4 + winxp
Hello, So, I would like to create some websites, I am going to use my favour program dreamweaver4. Under winxp, there is a serious isse: When I go definie new site and select the rootfolder, the dreamweaver will just ignore my selections.

So, I would like to create some websites, I am going to use my favour program dreamweaver4. Under winxp, there is a serious isse:
When I go "definie new site" and select the rootfolder, the dreamweaver will just ignore my selections. For example If I select d:\works\newsite the D4 will choose desktop. Anything I can choose the rootfolder alway will be desktop (?). I just cant understand what is it.
I tried several ways. but I didnt succed. Also there is some problem with the caching which is related to this issue I think. When I somehow write in something manually, then the documents which are in the rootfolder, the D4 say, the documentis outside of the rootfolder. (? 2.0), However if I select the document in the site manager and drag it into the edtitor window it work. But who is that who can manage to build sites like this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure on what the issue is, most likely changes to the registry that confuse dreamweaver.
Hkey Current User\software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 4\Sites\site0\Local Directory
Hkey Current User\software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 4\Sites\site0\Local expanded dir 0
Set both those keys to the path you want and it will stick.
Did you try running dreamweaver in compatability mode?
Either way there is your fix, enjoy.

None of them, the registry is okay, and it does the same in compatibilty modes.
I think I am going to try out an other build. It may help.

Ufourtunately I dont kow how working exaclty Dreamweaver but, when dreamweaver always wants to use the desktop I think it's something to do with the system. I'll try out tomorow an other build. I didnt needed to make changes in the registry(there is nothing like desktop at all), because there was everything is okay. I mean its a mazing but there is the right directories. So than it must be something wrong with the system/or in this configuration I use. But I installed so many program, for my work I really dont know what it could be. I am just downloading the 2486, Now I have 85. Little step but maybe helps.
I checked the software compatibility. macromedia says that is - fully - compatible. I have clean install on a new partition, and on an other one there is win2000. Under win2k D4 works perfectly, but I uninstelled almost everything. So I would choose to change back only if I am sure that I have to.
Lastly I'll try a full new install and then if not back to win2k until the xp will be released. /or patch-update will pop up.
Hopszla I just got an Idea, and I tried out. I deleted all the registry keys regarding sites, so result is: If I use the toolbar to open import/open an image it will open and now it will put it in (before even didnt does this) but with wrong pathname, But if I use the assets manager it will put it in with the right path.
This much more accepatble than to drag from the site manager into the editor window. But it will be still a problem becasue I cannot give the path for rollovver button etc. Anyway I can finish the work like this.
I am waiting for your answer regarding the new build.
