I really need help. I emailed OvisLink (The thing I started using when this occured, and heres the email): MY EMAIL I really need help with this. Ever since I got this usb adapter on my computer, it shuts down all the time and goes to a blue screen saying IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS.

I really need help with this. Ever since I got this usb adapter on my computer, it shuts down all the time and goes to a blue screen saying IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS. This is really making me mad. I cannot find a driver for this, as I do not know what it is called on your website, or whatever. The name in the subject is what I read off of the back of the adapter.
Please help me, I've tried everything.

Hello Dominic,
It seems that your motherboard not allow to install more device because of IRQ shortage. Several reasons will cause that problem:
1. The BOIS of the motherboard need to update.
2. The motherboard driver need to update (especialy USB driver and bus mastering driver)
3. Too many PCI devices that using IRQ installed
4. Hardware problem (hard to fix)
You can try one of following things also (may help but not 100%):
1. remove one or two PCI devices that not used to free IRQ
2. change PCI device to different slot to re arrange IRQs
3. Disable IRQ for video card in BIOS
4. Disable ACPI in BIOS to free IRQ but you need to reinstall XP (last option, not recommend)

Yours is not an easy fix. You didn't say what kind of computer you have and how old it is. From the picture you sent, it is VIA based motherboard.
Your best bet is to go to the motherboard's website and see if there is an updated BIOS that you can install. At the time that you bought your computer, BIOS you have installed may not recognize a particular device despite the fact that it has USB ports. Then, there is the question of a VIA update which has to be installed with Windows.
I am not certain that eliminating IRQ's is the answer or moving around the boards will do something. These are things we use to do with Win95 and Win98. XP pretty much controls these things in relation to the BIOS

OEM computer so any updates will need to come from HP or your copy of XP may not work anymore if you need to reinstall.
You do not have an IRQ conflict that I can see from the picture as if you did you would have yellow exclamation marks in device manager. You can not just uninstall devices in device manager without either physically removing the devices as well or disabling them in the bios.
Reason is they will just return on the next reboot of the computer.
Sounds like you need the driver for that USB adapter and if you can post up the manufacturer name and model number of it then we might be able to find the driver you need.

First and foremost VIA USB controllers aren't that great. That being said I would like to start by suggesting that you spend 5-10 bucks on an NEC (Chipset) USB 2.0 controller. There are a few things that puzzle me about that IRQ Map. #1 ACPI used to be an IRQ 9 only thing, but that may have changed? #2 one of those serial port IRQs can be freed if you BIOS doesn't suck and will properly release the serial ports. The only port you need is the virtual port occupied by your WinModem. Also if you're switicing to wireless you could very easily remove that ethernet card. However, if you understand ACPI then you should understand that an IRQ conflict is probably not the issue since ACPI gives you 100s of IRQs. Here's an article from microsoft that recommends disabling PNP OS in the bios. You might try that:

In the future I recommend buying an Intel brand motherboard and using an intel brand CPU.
