Dual Channel DDR or not

This is a discussion about Dual Channel DDR or not in the Windows Hardware category; I just purchased a Soltek k8t890 mobo. It supports dual channel ddr memory. I purchased 2 identical 512mb sticks of pc3200 ram as well. Now, my dilema. . . . Am I gonna see better system performance splitting up the ram and running 512mb in dual channel mode, or going single channel mode and running 1gb of ram.

Hmm, well just to put you mind at ease, it does make a difference running in dual-channel mode rather then single-channel mode

Also note that running in single/dual-channel modes does not effect the total physical memory allocation at all. It just has the added beneifit of allowing the MMU to map memory with either 64-bit(single) or 128-bit(dual) addressing. Basically it means that now the memory can be accessed with a 128 lanes of traffic vs. only 64 lanes of traffic
