dvd player not reading burnt cds

I have an LG dvd player and it doesn't support burnt cds and fails to read it. Is there a way to overwrite this or bypass it? Is there like a modchip or the like for dvd players like mine?.

Unfortunately not, I'm afraid... You see in order to be able to read CD-Rs and RWs a DVD mechanism needs two laser pickups, one for CDs and one for DVDs. Many cheaper DVD players use a single pickup and simple widen an narrow the beam to suit the required media. This works for normal pressed CDs but fails with Rs and RWs due to the lower reflectivity from these media. So, without replacing the DVD mechanism itself, there is no way to make it play CD-R/RWs.
