DVD-ROM ain't reading my DVDs anymore
This is a discussion about DVD-ROM ain't reading my DVDs anymore in the Windows Hardware category; Only thing I did different on my re-install of XP Pro, was have My Computer be set up as a Standard PC, instead of a ACPI-PC. (For music production reasons. ) It will read DATA and MUSIC CDs but, that's it.

I see no problems in DEVICE MANAGER.
Any insight would be greaty appreciated.

I had this problem a while back.
I had to switch the cables out. It would only read when it was by itself on the secondary IDE channel as master.

The weird thing is, everything worked fine before.
Freaky.

You got gremlins my friend
Its most likely driver issue, that when you connect it again it will redetect and find it, and install the same driver as before.
