EAX splash screen with Audigy
This is a discussion about EAX splash screen with Audigy in the Windows Software category; Anyone know how to get rid of the EAX splash screen that appears on startup? Apparently a file called CTEaxSpl. exe is being called from somewhere & is playing 1 or more AVI files. Someone on 1 of Creative's newsgroups said to use Msconfig, only prob is I've already checked that.
Anyone know how to get rid of the EAX splash screen that appears on startup? Apparently a file called CTEaxSpl.exe is being called from somewhere & is playing 1 or more AVI files. Someone on 1 of Creative's newsgroups said to use Msconfig, only prob is I've already checked that. There are only 3 new entries: ADGJDet & CTLTask, which I've disabled already, but there's another 1 called Updreg.exe which is in C:\Windows which I haven't disabled, as I'm not 100% sure what it is - the file properties->version->comments says it's Creative Registry Update.
I did a search in the registry & found a Runonce key for CTEaxSpl.exe. I know Runonce is supposed to do just that - run once, but I tried deleting that key on a hunch to see what would happen, & guess what - when I rebooted it's back again. Do you think Updreg.exe could be putting it back there? If this is true, this would be a sneaky way to stop people being able to disable CTEaxSpl.exe in Msconfig, as it doesn't show the contents of the Runonce key.
I think I will try disabling Updreg in Msconfig & then deleting that Runonce entry & see if it still comes back when I reboot, but will have to that later this evening as I have a download going @ the mo that I don't wanna interrupt.
Any other ideas?

If it only appears on startup, why bother going to the trouble of removing it? It makes no sense...
It makes sense now:
Check out the kernel memory stat there. It normally sits around 20-30Mb but som reason CTEaxSpl.exe takes 30-40Mb for itself in that space. Anyone know why it does this?
