After playing with some of the permissions some how a group of folders on a certain parent folder have access denied to the administrator. These are important files. Is there a way to reset the permissions on them?.

Using the true administrators logon, you should be able to 'Take Ownership' of the files, under the security settings.

Hmmm.. In the advanced section.. take ownership then sub directories. Worked. Thank you.
