Enable Fastwrites?
This is a discussion about Enable Fastwrites? in the Windows Hardware category; I'm running WinXP Pro with a Geforce 3 Ti500 using the 23. 11 Nvidia drivers. Anyone know how to enable Fastwrites? I have it enabled in the BIOS, but when I run 3dMark2001 SE, the report says that it's supported, but disabled.

try something like nvmax or geforce tweak utility.
Fast Writes are automatically disabled in driver releases past 2x.xx
Like ThC said use NVMax or GeForce Tweak to enable them. I like RivaTuner.

Thanks for the replies. Geforce Tweak Utility did the trick. My 3dMark score stayed exactly the same though.
Fastwrites are usually disabled also in the Videocard Bios to conform to Nvidia & Microsoft standards.
BUZZ of marketing are always flooding around, just like something called SBA

Looks like when I used the Geforce Tweak Utility to enable fastwrites, my overclocking settings were reset back to default. Switched them back to the overclocked settings I originally had and it turns out fastwrite boosted my 3DMark2001 score from 8580 to 8660. So I guess it does help a little.
Strangely enough I find that Fast Writes helped my GF2MX a bit under 9x but under 2k/XP it didn't. I have no idea why.
