Epson 1640SU Photo scanner

This is a discussion about Epson 1640SU Photo scanner in the Customization Tweaking category; Just reformatted HD, installed Win XP pro and then SP2. I can't get the 1640SU scanner to function. All files seem to be in place. When I try to access the scanner I get Could not open the TWAIN source.

Just reformatted HD, installed Win XP pro and then SP2. I can't get the 1640SU scanner to function. All files seem to be in place. When I try to access the scanner I get "Could not open the TWAIN source. Make sure there is a valaid source for your scanner in the TWAIN directory found in the Windows directory." I've uninstalled and re-installed both scanner and PhotoShop. I've changed USB cables. Is there a known problem with XP SP2 in respect to my scanner. I would send an e-mail to support Epson but the last one I sent four years ago has yet to be answered!

I've got this very same scanner running under Windows Server 2003.

Go here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/suppo...latform=Windows and grab the latest, 5.71a TWAIN driver.

Also, I'm not entirely sure as I have it running, but you may need the Windows Image Aquisition service to be running for it to work as well.
