All service packs and drivers upto date. No other problems on the system,
I've tried to disable the virus checker (upto date McAffe), and have even gone as far as taking ownership of all the files in the program directory...
Thanks in advance,
Bill

If you're still there, what you might have to do is give the user account that you want to run the game under admin right temporarily, and install the game under it. Then, make sure to run the game at least once. Afterward, remove the admin privies and try to run it again. If you still have problems, make sure that the directory has "everyone:modify" permissions, and that the registry keys for the game have similar "modify/change" permissions as well.

Thanks for the reply...
Tried running as admin, no good same error message. Tried given admin privaliges to account, same error message. Tried talen ownership of all files, same error message. I've given up, so I'm rebuilding system. Windows 200 was loaded as an upgrade on windows ME and I have been told by tooooo many people that this is not a good thing to have done, but rather load as a new instal. Thanks!

The reload of a clean 2000 install solved the problem. So beware of upgrade ME to 2000!
anyone should be aware of ANy upgrade to any new O/S.
