error Windows Installer 3.0 RC
I tried Windows Update v5 (text. v5. windowsupdates. microsoft. com), and it installed windows installer v3. 0 RC. now i cannot install some installshield programs, giving me error 1607 (about installing isscriptx.

now i cannot install some installshield programs, giving me error 1607 (about installing isscriptx.msi), trying to manually install isscriptx.msi will give error 1305...
what happened to windows?
i cannot reinstall Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 on Windows XP (MS website: Windows XP contains Windows Installer 2.0 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this redistributable.).
anyone knows solutions?
