This is strange.

Remote user is sending email via dial- up connecting to our domain mail server using POP3 and SMTP, can send email to our domain name but to other domains cant send and receive email, I dont know what seems to be the problem.

Yet when logged in locally to the actual domain can send to anyone outside the domain.

Can telnet into 110 and 25.

Any ideas please.

Fixed.

The user needed to check the box "my outgoing SMTP server requires authentication" in Outlook.

Waddy,

The reason why...is that Exchange 2000 out of the box does NOT allow relaying...

That is why someone on another network (your user using POP to connect) could not send to another domain other than your own...

Yep, which is a good thing 4 sure.

Was an oversight on my behalf for not telling him he had to check that box when setting up outlook.

Thanks
