Hello,

I have just finished installing windowsXP and am getting a error message when trying to logon to desktop from welcome screen. If i select myself or even guest logon i get error "windows registration engine corrupt pls reinstall windows" and i crash back to logon screen. The thing is if i boot into safe mode, and logon as Administrator i can logon into windows fine!?
Im thinking maybe my install/setup install choices were wrong- i didnt choose the register this product option from wizard, and maybe i should have?
Just to make sure, of the 5 wizard install options, what choices should i make.
Also, is there a setting i can use which means windows bypasses the logon area and boots straight to desktop?
PS i didnt choose dynamic install option, maybe that caused problems?

Any help would be greatly appreiciated

looks like you are using 2428 but thats ok...
do this..

boot in safe mode and than log in as admin..
run regedit and find this key:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Activation Required" and change its value from 1 to 0..
restart and of you go.....happy testing.

I had a problem logging on also. I would get an error msg that would say that Windows files were either missing or damaged and that I needed to repair or re-install. This registry tweak fixed the problem.
Thanks alot!!!
