Hmm... Are you using the Riva patch or trying to play in software mode?
If you're using the patch, delete FF7.exe and FF7Config.exe and replace them with the versions off the CD and try running it again in software mode. If not, then I can't help you. With the Chocobo patch installed FF7 runs perfectly fine, if a little slow, for me in software mode.

If you want it to work in hardware mode, then you can try it with the Riva patch applied, but with the Riva checkbox in ff7config not ticked. Try getting it to work in software mode like Admiral LSD said first though. You may well need to try different nvidia drivers.
Hello, while this topic on FF7 is on i would also like to add my problem with Useing FF7.
My Problem:
FF7 opens and plays fine, except the FMV's do not play, and the sound Effect's do not work such as hitting, maqic etc etc etc., all it does is plays the music...and runs the game, i tryed to figure out what was wrong and download all the possible files im missing, i tryed installing the video requiremnts as said on my README file,
"Install Movie Player:
Final Fantasy VII requires the installation of DirectShow (included in DirectMedia) to play the fantastic movie sequences in Final Fantasy VII. Click on INSTALL MOVIE PLAYER and DirectShow will automatically be installed onto your system."
but nothing changed, i also tryed to run the soundfont setup launcher but i get an error saying: SUregKey Faield! ( enum\root\media\ 0000.) and cancells the install of the midi sound system. (witch i hoped to fix the no effects problem).... so yeh iv got alot of problems -.-
my system is:
microsoft windows XP
home edition
V 2002
SP2
2.66Ghz cpu
256mb ram
dell 3000.
