When I run ff7 normally, i just get a blank screen, when I run it in win95/98 compatability mode, the game does'nt start, it just stays on the desktop. I tried running it with the apcompat tool, but it just crashes.
I've got the riva tnt patch for ff7, and have tried fiddling with my display settings to no avail, I was originally using the 12.00 dets, but switched to the 7.58's, but this did not make a diffference.
My specs are:
athlon 800mhz
msi k7t mobo
creative sb!live
xentor32 tnt2 ultra
128mb ram
win2k pro sp2

Okay. Can someone please take the time and explain to me STEP BY STEP what to do to get Final Fantasy VII to run in Win2000? What program exactly it is that I need to download (there's 2 different compatibility toolkits available), what other patches I might need, and most important: what exactly I have to do with the toolkit.
I read through all of this, tried all of this, but still it doesn't work. Perhaps it is because I am no 1337 Windows-pro and therefore have ABSOLUTELY no clue about what to do with this Application Toolkit thingy. The game starts, and after the intro (which is displayed upside down for some obscure reason) the game crashes. More exactly the game crashes when the first character tries to do an attack.
So please, can anyone help me?

The first place you should check out is the Eidos Interactive support page for FF7. Specifically, this page: http://www.eidosinteractive.com/support/patchinfo.html?ptid=16 which will cure your upside-down movie problem (also solves most other movie problems that people have had) and this one: http://www.eidosinteractive.com/support/patchinfo.html?ptid=54 which updates the graphics support.
The game crashes are slightly harder to deal with. There's a fairly reasonable guide to solving this at http://www.ffseven.com/faq.php
Finally to fix the crashing on the chocobo races you'll need this patch: http://www.qhimm.com/ff7_chocobo_patch.zip

Guys, guys! I found out how to solve the problem where the game crashes at startup. It was simply a lack of codec for the intro movie. So download the TrueMotion codec and it should work. Hope this help.
