Filesearching VERY slow in winXP

Why is the winXP search-function (Start-button/Search) so very much slower than previous windows? Is there somehow I can speed it up?

If you look at the bottom on the search dialog panel, you should see a selection to turn on file-indexing. This will speed up file searches quite a bit.

yeah i dont know if file indexing is on by default in w2k or not i know its not in XP, there for XP searches all your disks instead of searching the indexes.

I also noticed it is slower at searching WITHIN files
Im not sure if this fixes it, but it does at least speed up the interface:

"Use Search Asst"="no"
 

That takes it back to win2000 style search aka classic search
