Final Fantasy VII Ultima Intro screen

Hi, I've just installed final fantasy vii on my pc and everything went smoothly until i loaded up the game and the 'new game. . . continue' screen comes up, i choose 'new game' and then the screen just goes black, nothing happens at all.

Any suggestions on what the problem is?

Ok. What video card are you using and what set of drivers for that card?

I had the same problem a few minutes ago after I installed the game. But then I installed the Movie Player from the install cd and everything works fine.

the FINAL FANTASY VII XP PATCH IS A SLIMY HACK
found out why at the sites below.
 
You really should use certain specific fan-made patches for the game. Even Eidos site links to one of the
fan-made patches. There is even improved models for the game (!).
