Final Fantasy VII(7) Problems....Solved!
I'm not sure this will work for everyone, but it worked very well for me. Now happily playing Final Fantasy 7:D - Specs. pIII 600mhz 512mb Ram 9550 Sapphire Radeon 128mb - Now to address the problem.

Problem: Starting up the game, there is a black screen and no sound. Pressing buttons makes us go to the Continue/New Game screen.
Solution: Installed fresh(Do NOT install DirectShow drivers), applied 1.02 patch http://rpghaven.uni.cc/goldfinger/ff7/ff7102zx.zip, appplied upside down movie patch http://rpghaven.uni.cc/goldfinger/ff7/ff7betap1.exe, and for later on in the game, just incase the game freezes on the chocobo races, applied the chocobo patch http://rpghaven.uni.cc/goldfinger/ff7/ff7_chocobo_patch.zip

I think it's "tm20dec.ax" file.

The people who created the movie codec seems to have stopped doing them now as it says on their website "duck.com" so its hard to know if the codec here is the latest version, i fixed the north crater clip crash by making an image of disc 2 (using nero image maker), editing it by removing the crater clip using ULTRA ISO "in movies folder" encoding it using eo video to AVI no compression, it will stop around 18 seconds as soon as it does stop encoding, you may have to force it to stop, watch clip and you may still have same error with black screen message after few seconds complaining to update, use avi/mpeg splitter and cut off a few seconds before that message, watch clip so theres no traces of that message, rename to same as original (delete original) add back into image (I used Ultra ISO) Mount image into Daemon tools software and run game, what i saw was the clip was a tiny square on the screen, it got past it fine. I thought all this was because i took Aeris with me LOL but all seems well. Hope i helped.
Please i need help, plz plz, i have the problem after movie crashs in the crater, plz i dont know how to use nero and ripa that video, so someone know a place that have a download of a saved game wo continues the game in the next save point after thath crash???? plz plz help me i need finish thi sgreat game plz.
The problem with the movies crashing on north crators means that its a bad disc, if you check disc 3 movie clips in windows media player the same thing happens, everyone who experiences this problem i bet its cause we all downloaded the same version. The one i got was from piratebay.org and all 4 images was done by Nero and the 1.4 patch was corrupted sound familiar to those having problems? I solved the disc 2 problemby luckely finding a mates disc 2 UK vesion and i copied the video clips into the US versions image, only proble left is disc 3 clips, just have to hope someone uploads to the web disc 3 of a diffent non corrupted copy.
I am using windows me and I had Radeon 128 put in but I still have the user.exe problems after playing for a time on computer and have to reboot my conputer! other than that the games runs great! I can get to level 22 where you go into to the sealed cave with Red XIII and beat the Ghost Warrior and then Bugenhagen tells red XIII about his father Seto and then the games freezes and can't get past this point! User.exe problems! I have tried all the down loads and pathces but no help! Tell what I am doing whrong and I did install the drivers do I need to un install them? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

amd athlon xp +2100(1.73 Ghz)
256 mb ram
Gforge 4 MX 440(64mb).
But I have a problema in the grafics, the caracters have missing legs,arms,etc... How can I fix this? thank you sorry for my bad english

ruby54501: Try downloading all different .exe's there are many about to fix all different cards, try the 1.2 patch exe or 1.4
Mitsuomi: Try different .exe's too, as many as you can also keep changing the settings (config) its a chocobo icon keep changing general settings till its fixes your problem. You have simialar pc specs as me and i never experienced that problem try the chocobo patch onthe original .exe

Help please i have downloaded the full pc version of FF7 but when i try to open it it says to insert dic 1, 2, or 3 what do i do or where can i get these discs cause i am craving FF7 for about 3 years now

If he downloaded it from the internet, u just need a crack. Sounds simple at first, but, believe me, it isn't. I have a couple with me, but only one of them seems to work with the chocobo patch and the 1.02 patch, plus the upside-down one. there's just a problem.. mine doesn't work anyway.
A russian pal from this forum solved the problem by mounting his image using nero imagedrive, which worked, even though the written cd and clone cd mounter couldn't do it... but his image was a .nrg, and mine's .mdf, so, whatever, i don't have a solution yet...

Maybe somebody can help me. I came to this sight to try and find out how to make my game work at the chocobo races. I saw somebody post the same exact problem I have, it stops working just at the chocobo races. But I don't know what to do to fix it. Am I missing the link to solve the problem. Please somebody let me know.

hey every one it is me again well everything is going smoothly but i cant watch the FMV's i do not have directshow so if anyone knows where i can download it i would appreciate it and the reason i need it is cause i get to bugenhagen and he takes me to the obsorvatory and then tiffa says sumthin bout a shooting star the screen blacks for a video then it just freezes with all the characters in their positions well thanks bye
Hey guys, im new here and I have major problems with the language in this game. You see, when I downloaded this game from e-mule, I accidentely got the french version and everything is written in french when I play it, I was wondering if there is an english translation patch or something that could change that! Thank You
