Finally settle this one, High Stakes Win2k

This is a discussion about Finally settle this one, High Stakes Win2k in the Windows Games category; Is it possible to get this sucker working! I tried the apcompat. exe, nope setup. exe has generated errors, the same with the Win2k App kit. I just tried the WinXP Appkit that I got from the Freedrive, still got the same result.

Is it possible to get this sucker working! I tried the apcompat.exe, nope setup.exe has generated errors, the same with the Win2k App kit. I just tried the WinXP Appkit that I got from the Freedrive, still got the same result. Tried following that patch suggestion in the index section of this website, it installed the game and got it running once, after that it would refuse to start again, and setup.exe wouldn't work after that. I checked that appfix.exe file and ran it, this supposedly had that NFS4 fix but MS never released it, still got the same result. This is the only f$%#$%$#% game that won't run under Win2k, and I am beginning to think that MS may not release another compatibility update, let alone one to solve High Stakes. This has got to be the most finnicky game out there. To any of you who got High Stakes working please tell me how you did it or just plain brag by replying cuz you are all lucky.

Find yourself a Win9x machine and install it on there.
Then copy the game directory to your Win2k box and run it.

From memory it's only the installer that won't run under Win2k, not the program.
