Geek code blocks

Why is it that we do not see many Geek code blocks anymore? The last one I saw was attached to a Unix Guru's email sig. I think they are a great way of confusing users/lamers. .

Why is it that we do not see many "Geek code blocks" anymore?
The last one I saw was attached to a Unix Guru's email sig.
 
I think they are a great way of confusing users/lamers.
