GeFroce 6600gt agp problem
Hi, I just got the Geforce 6600gt agp card, and everytime i go to open a game, the intro plays ok, then the screen shuts off and the computer goes into safe mode. I have update the drivers and my bios (using asus a7n8x) and it still hasn't helped.

Yes, that is the correct drivers.
Does this happen with all your games or only some of them?
I know there was a problem like that with "Dune2000", then you had to add a "+w" or something like that in the shortcut to start the game.
Give me the name of the game, it will be a bit easier to find the problem then.
Thanks

It happens with all my games.
I have X2 that came with the card, then nfsu2, nba live 2005, madden 2005, rome total war, nascar 2004 which also came with the card.
Sometimes the game freezes (nfsu2 and rome total war) and the other games the screen turns off and it goes into safe mode..
Thanks for your help!

Same thing here:
MSI Neo2 Platinum
AMD 3500+
XFX 6600GT AGP
Win XP SP1 + 67.03 drivers, all the drivers for the mobo, sound etc are the latest.
Tweaking the Fast Writes and AGP speed didn't help, downgrading hardware acceleration didnt help.
ALL games do not run in 3d - video output is lost and a reboot is teh only way out.

dr3g,
Have you had any luck with xfx tech support?
I talked to them yesterday, and just said I needed to update all my drivers and that would 'fix' the problem. Haven't got a hold of them today though... i am assuming they don't work on the weekend...
Keep me posted if you get things straightend out if you don't mind.

I am having similar problems with my 6600GT AGP card
As soon as i start a game like Quake 3 or Doom 3, the computer shuts down after the opening game screen or if i go to play a game
I have tried everything and cant understand what you mean about the power supply
There is no '4 pin adapter' that i can see
My card is an AGP & i am using Win XP
PLEASE help me!!

The fix is easy.... the card needs to be plugged into the power supply - which isn't covered anywhere in the installation guide... there is the 4 prong slot for in at the back... plug it in and watch it go!
I just got my XFX 6600GT last night and had the same problem until I read your post. Plugged it in and works fine now.
This is the after-thought addendum page that fell out of the installation manual (crap!) when I finally got around to looking through it.
"Addendum - XFX strives to bring you the best performance as usual. For better display quality, we strongly suggest you connect the 4-pin power connector from the power supply to the VGA board."
That's like being Ford and saying "For better performance of your new car, we strongly suggest putting the key in the ignition and starting the ignition."
