ghosting an ide drive to a sata drive
i have used norton ghost to transfer all of the contents of my ide drive over to a new sata drive i have recently bought. however, once the sata drive boots up after the ghost, it fails to get past the windows logo screen before it gets to the desktop.

The problem is that Windows needs drivers to be able to use the SATA device. If it doesn't have these drivers, it won't be able to access the SATA disk.
What you need to is boot off the IDE disk with the SATA drive plugged in, install the SATA drivers in Windows, then re-ghost onto the SATA drive again.
Hopefully that should work, but if not, come back here and we'll try to help.
