Gigabyte 7VAX Problem
This is a discussion about Gigabyte 7VAX Problem in the Windows Hardware category; Here's the scoop. I've got a Gigabyte 7VAX board here and have a Western Digital 20 GB drive and a Quantum Fireball 30 GB drive with ATA 133 Cables on both of them. With latest bios updates and all, I can't seem to get S.
Here's the scoop.
I've got a Gigabyte 7VAX board here and have a Western Digital 20 GB drive and a Quantum Fireball 30 GB drive with ATA 133 Cables on both of them.
With latest bios updates and all, I can't seem to get S.M.A.R.T. to enable itself. There isn't a setting in the bios that I haven't missed, because I know which one it is and that isn't fixing it. Both drives support it, because they worked on my old board. So I decided to take out a Maxtor drive and ATA 133 cable from a computer that I know works fine with S.M.A.R.T. and it didn't even work, so it's boiled down to the motherboard.
What exactly could be the problem that would cause S.M.A.R.T. to be stuck "Disabled"??
Thanks for any help
P.S.: If anyone knows of an Acoustic Management program for a Quantum Firewall (Maxtors doesn't seem to work), could you give me a link please
Thanks again
