Glide?

Someone just gave me a copy of Return Fire 2; said it was a pretty good shooter. When I attempted to load the game, it says it's unable to find some Glide file, then continues the install. When I attempt to run the game, same message, but give a choice to use Glide or software drivers.

Hi!
I dunno this game, but the error message clearly states that it wants a 3DFX card to run on. Glide is (was?) the proprietary 3DFX API.
It is a kind of simplified and very fast open gl.
Personally, I run some 'old' games like Unreal and Tournament on glide which is much faster that any other api. On my config, it is even better looking and faster than open gl or direct x.

Basically, as you don't have a 3DFX voodoo card, you can't run Glide - so just ignore it. There are glide emulators/wrappers that you could try, but I doubt it would be worthwhile with your system as you need some pretty heavy duty hardware to run the emulator and I'm not sure where you can even get the software anymore. If you want to give it a shot anyway, do a search on the internet for Glide wrapper and you might have some luck.
