ok fixed the audio stuttering problem. Well I love win2k pro sp4 so far. I had been running winxp pro sp1 for more than a year but win2k pro sp4 is just as fast or a hair faster on 3dmark. Runs UT2003 much better and smoother than winxp sp1.

only got one gripe so far. when I double click on the shortcut for my dsl connection it tells me there has been a hardware failure with my modem, but if I hit redial it connects fine. Any ideas on that?

Also is there something similar to Bootvis for win2k pro?

USB DSL "modem"??

The closest your gonna get to BootVis is to actually disable the specific drivers that 2k loads on bootup. For example when you boot into safemode and you see those drivers load on bootup? Those are just some of the drivers that load when you normally load Windows and depending on your hardware configuration some are not needed. That was actually another project that I was going to get into but the time put into researching that would have really been a waste since I don't reboot that often anyway.

Dos its a SpeedStream 3060 Internal ADSL pci modem. Never had this problem using the same drivers in winxp so I wonder if its a Sp4 quirk?

Hi Bobbi Brisco,
That can be a lot of different things. Some motherboards automatically reboot if the power gets to low or the system too hot. In Windows 2000/XP there is an option to reboot after a crash. Turn that off and you might see a blue screen rather than the system rebooting without explantation of why. You can simply read the error on the blue screen which will list the crashing file's name and probably figure out what's crashing.
Steps to get there:
1. Press Windows (Key on your keyboard) + Pause
2. Click |Advanced|
3. Click [startup and Recovery]
4. Un Check [X] Automatically reboot
Good Luck,
Christian
