This is a discussion about Half Life in the Windows Games category; Just upgraded to win 2k and found my 3dfx vid drivers didnt work. Got the correct one from here and installed them. Now when I join a game it is so dark that I can barely see anything even with the gamma turned all of the way up.

Now when I join a game it is so dark that I can barely see anything even with the gamma turned all of the way up. In win98 there was a way to set the color for your monitor and I've used this in the past to correct my problem. Now I can't find were you do this in win2k. Does anyone know how to do this in wi2k?
Also, now when I exit a game I get an error msg and the computer completely locks up. Anyone know what could the the cause of this?

Ok, first half of problem solved by downloading and useing APK 3DFX tuning engine. Great program . Not only solved my problem but also increased my FPS to 65-70. I never got over 25-30 before! WOOOOOOT! lol
Anyhow, still cant figure out why my computer locks up when i quit half life game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Powerstrip allows you to adjust gamma on the fly. My suggestion for a resolution for you.
