Half Life 2 Problem(More of a wuery actually)

This is a discussion about Half Life 2 Problem(More of a wuery actually) in the Windows Games category; Hmmm, I got kind of bored, so I reverted back to my old 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller and tried to run Half-Life 2. (No, I'm not crazy trying to run it on 64Mb intergrated Graphics, I just wondered ) Later I will try taking 256Mb of RAM away and then maybe rlling back my sound and Graphics drivers.

Later I will try taking 256Mb of RAM away and then maybe rlling back my sound and Graphics drivers. But anyway, back to the point...

Now whenever it autosaves or I try to change the graphics settings (eg. texture detail, shadows etc.) I get the dreaded 'bong' of an error message and it says;

The instruction at "0x241f8977" referenced memory at "0x01b6f5c0". The memory could not be "read".

I can bypass this by opening the console and typing 'sv_autosave 0' or by changing the autosave files in the actual game folders to 'Read-Only'

However, the changing of the graphics settings is still an issue, any ideas?

P.S. Apart from these errors I have got it running and looking pretty good, but the FPS is something to be concerned with 8) .

As I said though, I have got HL2 working on my normal GFX card, I was just curious as to how low it could go so to speak, so any suggestions/solutions aren't immediately important. I think I'll post my finished 'results' somewhere on the internet, to let people know the real minimum specs.

I would guess that it has something to do with DirectX support and the lack of on that video card. What is that like a DX6 card?
