Half-Life Black screen ....

Installed and patched hl up to 1. 0. 1. 6 or whatever the latest is. When i tried to run it, i got a black screen, couldn't ctrl-alt-del or anything. Ran hl. exe -console and got into the game, but anytime i tried to launch a new game it froze.

Do you have eax enabled? I find it can not run if eax is on without the beta liveware.

I'm using the beta liveware drivers though ... actually, further testing has revealed that my d3d is messed up ... my computer crashes cold when i try the direct3d tests in dxdiag.exe ... tried reinstalling d3d, to no avail ... anyone know a version of detonators that works for sure in 2k? 3.76 and 3.78 don't work for me...

It's pretty much trial and error with the drivers, they all worked with my tnt so I don't know. Disabling agp in dxdiag and running HL in opengl might might help
