hard disk size

This is a discussion about hard disk size in the Windows Software category; i have a 40Gbytes harddisk drive. But why is it not 40Gbytes but insted it only shows 38. 79Gbytes? where are the rest? My hardisk is new and there are no files yet inside. .

The operating system and the hard drive manufacturer have different ways of calculating the disk size. The value it shows is correct.

its because 1mb isnt exactely 1000kbs it's rounded to 1000kbs it's supposed to be 1024kb...
 
not sure but i think it's that like my 160gb shows only 149gb...

FPS.DYL, Stop resurrecting old threads. All you do is knock off the new threads that are posted and then those people get no help.
