Hard-drive thrashing!!
This is a discussion about Hard-drive thrashing!! in the Customization Tweaking category; Checking to see if anyone else is experiencing hard-drive thrashing for about 5 seconds after WinXP 2600 boots up and comes up to the desktop. It appears XP is either looking for something or is completing some kind of task after the desktop comes up.
Checking to see if anyone else is experiencing hard-drive thrashing for about 5 seconds after WinXP 2600 boots up and comes up to the desktop. It appears XP is either looking for something or is completing some kind of task after the desktop comes up. I have check in 'services' for the culprit but since I am new to the whole NT thing I probably don't know what to look for.

Check the System Log in the Event Viewer for any disk errors, you may have a bad block on the disk.

Nemesis,
Thanks for the tip. I checked the event viewer and didnt find any errors, but found that Diskeeper 7, which I recently installed is performing its thang. I was stumped, so thanks.
ps. I didnt even know what the event viewer was for until now, thanks.
