Has Win2k pro as fast as Win98 now for games? can anyone sup

no Win2k isnt as fast as win98 for games I dont think. It might be faster now that DX 8 is out but then that depends on DX 8 optimised drivers. Either way no matter what people say Win2k isnt designed for games. Yes it can play them but it doesnt mean it will be as fast as an OS designed to run them like Whistler is (don't even bother using a 9x line product because they are being phased out anyway). Anyway if you can get a copy of whistler use that otherwise use 2k.
With dx8 and the nvidia beta 7.17 there is HUGE increase in performance. The games actually ran better with that configuration than dx8 / any winme driver I tried. The 7.xx drivers apparently fixes some agp problems in win2000.
3dmark2000 scores went up about 2000 points !
win2000 will be a great gaming platform, even if it wasnt indended to be.
