Have no administrative tools (win2k)

No real reason to think this would work, other than the fact that sometimes Windows likes to be told twice. Did you check Taskbar and Start Menu Properties for the Display Administrative Tools item? If it's already, checked, try unchecking it, the toggling it on again.
Also, I'm just mentioning this because I'm not sure what your level of familiarity with W2K is, the tools are available through the Control Panel's Administrative Tools applet.

Yes, you're right, the "Display administrative tools" wasn't check.
No, I checked it, but the tools didn't show up in the Administrative Tools (Control Panel).
Is there anything else I can do?

When you right click on MY Computer, do you have an option for Manage? If so, access the Computer Management Console from there and see if going at it that way works. Alternately, do a repair install of Windows 2000 and see if that fixes it. You might want to log on as Administrator (even though you might have an Administrator privileges) and see if you can get at them there. Did you by any chance disable any services to tweak Windows 2000?

Go to your Win2k CD...look in the i386 directory....there is a file called something like "adminvpack.msi" run it...it will install the admin pack

The closest I find is the file ADVPACK.DL_.
Doesn't look like the file you refer to?
I have a copy of the CD on my pc. May it be that this section wasn't copied? (My university has a contract with MS and I can get the CD almost for free. If I need it, I can easily get it.).

I'm sorry.....I was looking on my Win2k Server Disk...
I'd try going to the microsoft.com and searching for the admin pack.

In addition, the adminpack that is being discussed is used to add server support to a workstation, rather than reinstate the existing admin support the machine came with during installation.
you can always type mmc at run console and add snapins to create a custom mmc console equivelant to admin tools
Just boot with the boot disk and run repair.
