HDD running in Pio in Xp ,, Udma in Win2k ??
This is a discussion about HDD running in Pio in Xp ,, Udma in Win2k ?? in the Windows Hardware category; My Ibm 75 gxp 45Gb is runnning in Pio in WinXp Pro and i dont know why the hell cause my bios detects it as a udma mode 2, Windows 2000 detects it as a Udma mode 2 and i'm even using an 80 pin ribbon cable.

My mother board is an abit bh6 with a bx chipset and it supports only udma 33 mode 2 but windows xp runs it at damn slow pio mode?

did u select UDMA if avaible from device manager
n it still runs at pio mode ?
in case u dunno where to change that from ,
device manager - IDE atapi controllers - primary ide channel, properties - advanced settings
from there u can select udma if avaible

also make sure you are using the latest Highpoint drivers. Also TweakXP allows you to ativate UDMA-66 in XP, I think its off by default

yes i've changed the dev. manager is set to dma if available but the current state always stays in Pio. In only happens in Xp not in 2k.

Iam not using a highpoint controller. I'm using intel 440bx controller which supports udma 33 not 66. So i dont really need ultra ata 66 support only ultra ata 33.
