I recently obtained a copy of Heavy Gear 2 second hand, and when I went to play it, It said directx 6 not detected. I never install old versions of directx, 'cause then it over-writes the current one, right? Anyway, I tried copying the directx files off the cd to the directory I had Heavy Gear 2 installed in, and that didn't work, told me either shell or directx wasnt installed. I found a similar question from 2001 on here, and the suggestions were all for using the app compatibility toolkit. I couldn't find any version other than the one on microshaft's site, and so I tried that one. Long story short: It didn't work. If anyone can help me, please do. Thanks in advance,

EDIT: I'm on xp, since I forgot to mention it.
