This is a discussion about Help. At a site. in the Legacy OS category; I am at a site trying to fix this computer. I need win. com for Windows 98 1st Edition. It has been deleted by mistake. The 98CD is scratched and I can barely retrieve any files from and cannot do a new install.
I am at a site trying to fix this computer. I need win.com for Windows 98 1st Edition. It has been deleted by mistake. The 98CD is scratched and I can barely retrieve any files from and cannot do a new install. All my laptop has is 2000. Rather then trying to go out a buy a new copy of Windows 98 First Edition the (also I am in a remote location) I thought someone out there could send me win.com for 98Original. admin@fixthatpc.com or tell me which CAB on the 98 CD it resides, sometimes I can get the CD to read a few CABs.

I fixed the problem. Win.com is wincnf in CAB 28 of 98 1st edition CD. Extracted it and all is well.
